HELP (Human Effort for Love and Peace) Foundation is a Non Governmental Organization set up in 1997 by a few concurring people, with the
objective of providing a helping hand to people affected by traumas like
violence in the strife-torn valley.
The main focus of the organisation has been
on providing education and health care to women and children, who have been the
worst sufferers of two decade long conflict, relief and rehabilitation to various down trodden sections of
the society, those who are severely challenged by physical disability or

HELP used to assist widows and underprivileged women financially by paying
them an amount of Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 monthly. The social stigma
associated with this kind of assistance has forced HELP Foundation to give them
work to earn their livelihood with dignity. HELP Foundation also wanted to
utilize its financial resources in a way that help its beneficiaries socially
and economically. HELP Foundation started an
empowerment centre where widows and poor women constantly work for
manufacturing Food items & Kashmir handicraft items. These items are sold
at state and national level at various exhibitions and through retail outlet. All
these items are marketed under brand name of SHEHJAR®. This is pertinent
to mention here that SHEHJAR® is the only renowned brand name of Kashmir
HELP Foundation, J&K established SHEHJAR Home for special children in year 1998, since then upbringing of children with special needs has remained main area of operation of Foundation. HELP provide boarding and lodging to 50 such children on regular basis.
2004, HELP Foundation, Jammu and Kashmir, set up a library by the name of
“Shehjaar Library” at the uptown Srinagar locality of GogjiBagh for the benefit of senior citizens, students,
researchers and candidates of
competitive examinations. Apart from keeping various national and local
newspapers and magazines available for the visitors, it has a rich collection
of books by reputed authors on a number of subjects.
